CTC is also the East London hub for the Near Neighbours national programme, which harnesses the potential of community organising to develop grassroots leaders and build relationships of solidarity and trust in religiously and ethnically diverse areas.
1. Social interaction
To develop positive relationships in multi-faith areas, helping people from different faiths get to know and understand each other better.
2. Social action
Through its programmes, Near Neighbours fosters positive relationships and enhances people’s capacity for action, helping build better, safer, and more resilient neighbourhoods. Its small grants programme and tailored support enable faith and community organisations to design and develop locally-led projects, which build communities and support vulnerable people, including migrants, refugees, youth, and women from ethnic minorities. Additionally, it offers training and leadership development opportunities, including Leadership for Effective Change—a bespoke leadership programme developed by CTC for grassroots leaders. This programme equips them with key community organising tools and concepts, empowering them to lead social action projects and drive positive change.
