The programme is funded by the Church of England’s Strategic Mission and Ministry Investment Board (SMIIB), and Citizens UK are our main delivery partner.
In 2020-2023 we ran a successful pilot project in the Barking and Stepney Episcopal Areas of Chelmsford and London Dioceses. This has helped six parishes to develop “growth pathways” for discipleship and leadership, growing in number by over 200 with 40% of new worshippers aged under 18. You can read more in our new report ‘Organising for Growth’ here.
From October 2024, we are rolling out the work across England, with an intentional focus on work with children, young people and families. The programme is funded for 3 years, from October 2024, and will seek to engage a total of 54 churches.
At the heart of the programme is a fortnightly learning community for church leaders and community organisers. The learning community is a great opportunity to learn and reflect alongside other church leaders walking the same journey, to hear stories of impact from churches in the pilot programme – and to reflect theologically on the community organising approach. The Organising for Growth Curriculum is based on CTC’s congregational development curriculum, but tailored specifically to an Anglican parish context, and with a particular focus on church growth.
We will soon be recruiting for the 2025-26 cohort. If you are a community organiser or parish priest interested in this opportunity, please email Miriam for more information.
