Witnesses of Justice: Synodality and Community Organising

Wednesday January 28, 2026,
12-3pm

In 2025, CTC’s report on Synodality, Community Organising and Catholic Social Action was presented to Pope Leo XIV at an audience with Catholic leaders in Citizens UK. We also celebrated Fr Sean Connolly as the first Catholic “priest-organiser” in the UK, in an innovative partnership between CTC, the Oblates of Mary Immaculate and the Diocese of Brentwood – and began to pilot a School of Faith and Organising for young Catholics, including opportunities for Community Organising Apprenticeships, with support from the Assumptionist Legacy Fund.

At the start of 2026, Citizens UK and CTC are arranging an event for Catholic leaders involved in Community Organising from across England to strengthen our shared mission of hope, justice, and renewal. To book a place at this event, please click here.

We will begin shaping a strategy for engaging Catholic schools, colleges, and parishes involved with Citizens UK in the Church’s journey of synodality – listening deeply, discerning boldly, and acting collectively for the common good.

Come add your voice, your experience, and your faith-filled leadership to a growing movement of community leaders committed to transforming our communities in the spirit of the Gospel.

We’re delighted that Cardinal Vincent Nichols, President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, will join us to reflect on our work.

We will also be joined by Dr Austen Ivereigh, Catholic writer and journalist, as well as former Citizens UK Organiser, and currently focusing some of his work on the way Pope Leo is building on the Synodal work begun in 2021 by Pope Francis.
