To both commemorate the 90th Anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street, we are hosting a panel discussion, just minutes from the site of those historic events. What can we learn from those events today? Can broad-based organising build an “inclusive populism” to challenge the destructive and divisive populisms of our own times? We’ll be reflecting on these issues with grassroots leaders involved in this work today, and authors on these issues on both sides of the Atlantic. These will include Professor Vincent Rougeau, a leading voice on Catholic social thought and racial justice in the US – who has worked with CTC from our earliest years, and so is a fitting keynote speaker on our 20th anniversary.
