People of Power, Walking in the Spirit: Pentecostalism and Communtiy Organising

Thursday February 27, 2025,
6.00 pm - 8.00 pm

We are delighted to invite you to the launch of our video report, “ People of Power, Walking in the Spirit: Community Organising and Pentecostalism,” on Thursday, the 27th of February at Hampden Chapel, Assemblies of God in Hackney, E9 7EU. The nearest stations are Homerton (13 minutes) and Hackney Central (19 minutes)

This video report tells the story of Pentecostal churches in East London that have harnessed the power of community organising to develop leaders, create a more porous flow between communities and the church and strengthen faith and discipleship. It will also include a reflection from Professor Robert Beckford, highlighting how this work reconnects Pentecostalism to its social justice roots.

The launch will begin formally at 6 p.m. and finish by 8 p.m. It will be an opportunity to worship together, hear testimonies from lay and ordained leaders from the churches, and staff from CTC and Citizens UK and discuss the impact and next steps on the journey together. Food will be provided after the event.

Please RSVP by filling out this form by Friday, 14th February, to let us know if you’re coming and any dietary & accessibility requirements you have. If you have any problems accessing the form or have any questions about the event, please email
